I promise Charlotte Dawson I will take my black crayon days and adding shades of bright yellow, soft blue, pastel pink to it… .
Depression, Stress, Anxiety, Bipolar, OCD, ODD, any number of disorders that turns your thinking and feelings into a mishmash of insignificant darkness.
Is differcult to bare for both the suffer their friends and their families. For those who can no longer fight the fight, the ones left behind wonder what they could of should of or might have done..
The answer is sad and simple. Warning signs are just that warning , but like any siren it goes on long enough we all learn to not hear it as loudly. And thats ok. We just have to hear the subtle quiet changes and not be blinded by familiarity of our beloved black crayon people.
We can't change yesterday , we work on being present in today so tomorrow is a better yesterday…
What we can do is share the load with others.
In our little pack of life we get all the colours some are metered with an abundance of bright colours of the rainbow others like Charlotte are given a few to many black colour blocks. We can share our love, kindness, model how to be happy. Be present in that moment.
Work at not being afraid of asking the tough questions. Stop being so damn polite as far as I can tell being polite never saved anyone if you know what I mean.
Ask and keep asking, Do you have an actual Plan to kill yourself? What is it? Is there something I can do when your feeling like this? Sit in that moment. Don't be afraid. Its a skill that needs practising. Your crayons are brighter and will see you through. Trust yourself you are the person to help.
… RIP Charlotte Dawson,
Bella Armstrong, lover of colour, slightly manic black crayon user and member of the human race..
